About

ABA Central mainly focuses on early intensive intervention for young children with learning difficulties such as ASD, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, PDD, speech delays and behavioural problems to improve young children’s and the families’ quality of life. The interventions can take place in different settings such as the centre, home, school or online as telehealth sessions. At ABA Central, we use ABA techniques and strategies for Positive Behaviour Support. Interventions are created by a BCBA who has over twenty years of experience in the field of education. Our tutors receive ongoing training from our BCBA to follow a program designed to address the individual needs of each child and their family.

Applied Behavior Analysis

ABA is a branch of Behaviour Analysis which utilises methods and techniques gathered from a pool of research conducted for more than half a century.

ABA uses mainly positive reinforcement to increase socially accepted behaviours and to decrease unacceptable/undesired behaviours. It relies on consistent collection of behavioural data to follow student/client progress and consequently it makes it possible to detect even tiny improvements or possible setbacks. The techniques can be applied in many settings, including home, centre and school environment.

An ABA specialist, preferably a BCBA, conducts a preliminary assessment which consists of screening the student’s medical and academic reports and interviews with the family, teachers and the student where possible. The s/he conducts an initial development and skills test such as VB-Mapp, Vineland, Asdan or Essential for Living to determine the areas the student needs improvement and creates an intervention plan. The intervention plan is applied by an ABA tutor as agreed between ABA Central and the family or the school. The BCBA follows the implementation of the program and the progress of the student through video recordings, bi-weekly or monthly workshops and reports to the family and the school where necessary.

ABA IS A TEAMWORK

Although ABA is considered as the “gold standard” for the treatment of autism, the families must bear in mind that Applied Behaviour Analysis is not just a teaching procedure applied by an ABA tutor during certain hours of the day for an agreed period. ABA is rather a teamwork and parents/guardians/teachers/grandparents, people who spend time regularly with the child are to be involved in the treatment intervention to work efficiently.

What is Autism?
